Hi,
Have just got a system back after a SATA connection snapped off the
M/board. Unfortunately the m/board could not be salvaged and was
replaced with a board with an Intel core 2 Dui processor. The
motherboard chipset
is: Intel 945GC + 1CH7 and its model is the 945GCT-M2/13333 V1.0A.
Having a look on the manufacturers website for the board
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=1&TypeID=32&DetailID=827&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=0
it is noticed that the board does not have a printer LPT port, as I
noted when I tried to connect the parallel cable.
Further searching reveals that the 945GCT-M# (v3.0) model does has an
LPT connection. If I cannot get the PC shop to replace the board with
the LPT one, is there a PCI card that is compatible with openSUSE 11.0
that will provide at least 1 LPT port for a HP LaserJet 5L?
I have had a look on the openSUSE HCL as well as on Google for 'pci
parallel card' and have been unable to find anything.
Your help would definitelty be appreciated especially as I have just
spent close to R3500 on updating this box, only to find it is now
short on features.
