Hi Just had problems here with the newer kernel on 10.3 x86_64 it was hard 
locking all the time  i found the fix was to do things the old way ie down 
load all the kernel files  .... the kernel , kernel sources , kernel syms , 
ect ect and install by hand "rpm -ivh  kernel.files.rpm.packagees" rebooted 
and it has been ok since .
