Anyone have problems with this kernel? After installing it, my machine wouldn't boot. I had to downgrade to an earlier kernel. I get messages like
waiting for /dev/sda2 to appear (/dev/sda1 is /boot and /dev/sda2 is root) !boot/01-devfunctions.sh: line 68: multipath: command not found
After it dumped me into a shell without root or /boot mounted, I did the "mount --bind" and chroot thing and built a new initrd with mkinitrd and it still didn't work.
I expect I had the same issue yesterday. Unfortunately this is a remote system without access to the console. Please check bugzilla if there is a bug open on this. If not file a new one and add as many as possible details (root fs uses a LABLE or is identyfied by the by-id). Also please add me to cc.
Also, is there any way to tell SuSE NOT to delete the old kernel when installing a new one.
Unfortunately I don't know a way for openSUSE 10.3. That's one of the reasons why I use yum. With 10.3 and 11.0 the update stack luckily got back to a reliable state again. With 11.1 zypper will even be able to maintain multiple versions of one RPM. See the "multiversion" parameter of a recent /etc/zypp/zypp.conf .
