I'm very sorry that your first linux experience was a weird behaviour of zypper. It is laudable that you persevered to the end. You're very brave and patient. We welcome you. If zypper would have done that to me I would have kicked it in the nuts, because I know where its nuts are. But for it to do that to a Linux newbie, that's just not fair.
