List, J. I have install the 0.7.8-3 components from X11:/XGL on openSuSE 11.0 x86_64, kde 3.5.9, kde-decorations. All of the setting in compizconfig-settings-manager now stick and have effect. To install the newer components, the install was done with X11:/XGL and X11:/Compiz repositories enabled. Following install, ~/.config/compiz was removed and then a logout and login were done. Compiz starts fine. The lingering problems I have are with ksnapshot (printsc) and emerald not working and I understand a patch is being developed for emerald. With printsc, you can see the launch feedback for ksnapshot start (bouncing ksnapshot icon), then all window decorations disappear and a kwin --replace is required to regain kde window decorations. ksnapshot never appears, not before or after the kwin --replace, but it _is_ running somewhere. There is no trace of an icon or window on any desktop or taskbar. 15:57 alchemy~> ps ax | grep snap 4828 ? S 0:00 ksnapshot -caption KSnapshot -icon ksnapshot -miniicon ksnapshot 5184 pts/1 R+ 0:00 grep snap So whatever happened when ksnapshot started seems to have caused ksnapshot's window to disappear. Logging out and then logging back in -- ksnapshot reappears and is waiting with a new screenshot. However, the screenshot was not taken until the most recent login showing that the screenshot command was never executed in the previous session when compiz was running, but rather it was stuck in some que and didn't run until after the logout-login. See: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/screenshots/compiz/ksnapshot_reappears_1... Last item is that when compiz is running, I can't log out. The screen goes gray like it is supposed to before you are presented with the dialog for 'end session' 'shutdown', etc.. The dialog never appears, but clicking on the desktop restores the running session. Switching to kwin allows logging out again. The ksnapshot behaviour is the same as it was yesterday after I installed 0.7.8-2 exclusively from the X11:/Compiz repository. The not logging out is new today and could be the result of the .8-2 and .8-3 package versions. The packages installed are: 16:18 alchemy~> rpm -qa | grep compiz compiz-kde-0.7.8-2.1 libcompizconfig-0.7.8-3.1 compiz-0.7.8-2.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.7.8-3.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.7.8-3.1 compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-49.1 compiz-emerald-0.7.8-2.1 python-compizconfig-0.7.8-3.1 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-16.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.7.8-3.1 If you want any additional information, let me know. If you would like for for me to try another repository config, also, let me know. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
