I am not sure what your problem was exactly, but the above certainly
isn't categorically true.  I am running 10.3, with Firefox (64 bit) 3.03
and Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 (64 bit) (though I should also stipulate I do
update my Cups from OBS Printing Repo), and I have no problem printing
to either my cups printers, nor my cups-pdf printer, nor the dialog box
pdf option.
