I added the compiz repo (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Compiz/) and to insure no version conflicts, I disable the XGL repo. Even with a complete dump of compiz, the right repositories selected and install from 1-click install, compiz fails miserably where 2 hours ago it was running great with version 0.7.6.
Now, with a reinstall of fusion-icon, not even fusion-icon will run and bombs with the following error:

Huh? It always worked before...
with the latest update. Where was the one-click that you used (if it's on a wiki, we should change it)? The one-click was:

I still don't have compiz working. Something is really strange with the 11.0 x86_64 compiz. (I can't compare any i586 machines, they are running 0.7.6 beautifully and in light of this problem, I don't dare touch them...)
Let me know what additional information I can send.

David, I had a similar problem with a YOU update of compiz last week. One minute it was working, then after a kde restart it wasn't. I had to forcibly downgrade it to the previous version to get it back again.
Cheers,
Rodney, How did you downgrade? I have tried removing the X11:/XGL repo and installing only from X11:/Compiz -- no luck. I have tried removing the X11:/Compiz repo and installing only from X11:/XGL repo -- still no luck. In each of the installs, on starting fusion-icon or compiz-manager, the screen will flash like compiz is trying to start, then no-compiz. Killing compiz-manager leaves all windows without any decorations requiring a "kwin --replace &" to restore the kde decor. It's still fubar. I guess I'll try removing both and going back to 0.7.4. The error from compiz-manager is still: 09:52 alchemy~> compiz-manager Checking for Xgl: not present.
