Listmates,
An update to compiz 0.7.8-25.1 killed compiz tonight. After an unsuccessful Yast update and unsuccessful 1-click install, investigation into manual start of compiz disclosed a fatal error:
"compiz (core) - Error: Plugin 'core' has ABI version '20080828', expected ABI version '30080902'."
The installed files are:
compiz-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-bcop-0.7.8-2.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-devel-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-emerald-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-devel-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-16.1 compiz-fusion-kde-0.6.2-3.4 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-devel-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported-0.7.8-2.4 compiz-kde-0.7.8-25.1 compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-49.1 libcompizconfig-0.7.8-2.1 python-compizconfig-0.7.8-2.1
This is on x86_64. Did I catch the repos in the middle of an update that resulted in the bad install? I saw an earlier thread, I believe yesterday, was there a fix. After having a very stable compiz desktop since 11.0 install, I was a bit surprised to run into this. If anyone has any thoughts on how to fix it, please let me know. Thanks!
In the mean-time, I'll go start by dumping compiz and doing a fresh install and see if that helps.
Damn, This has really got me stumped! I have completely removed compiz: sudo rpm -e $(rpm -qa | grep compiz) $(rpm -qa | grep ccsm) fusion-icon reinstalled with 1-click and that resulted in the following installed: 23:40 alchemy~> rpm -qa | grep compiz | sort compiz-0.7.8-2.1 compizconfig-settings-manager-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-emerald-themes-0.6.0-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-fusion-plugins-main-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-kde-0.7.8-2.1 compiz-manager-0.0.1_git080201-49.1 libcompizconfig-0.7.8-2.1 python-compizconfig-0.7.8-2.1 However, compiz is still dead: 23:20 alchemy~> compiz-manager which: no fusion-icon in (/opt/kde3/bin:/home/david/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/usr/lib/mit/bin:/usr/lib/mit/sbin:/usr/lib/qt3/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/sbin) Checking for Xdmx: not present.
