Problem solved. I checked more carefully in KMix, Output tab, the Font was mute. Is it possible that any update did this? As I explained initially, the sound was working with a fresh installation of Kunbuntu 8.10 and opensuse 11.0, kde 3.5, but stopped working after applying all the updates. Thanks to Dave P for your help! On Tue, Sep 30, 2008 at 5:02 PM, Gorka Aguirre <lasbainas@gmail.com> wrote:

thanks, but the user is member of the audio group... Any other thing I could check?
Configure Desktop better known as kcontrol and select sound & multimedia > Sound System. Then under the hardware tab select audio device, either Advanced linux sound system or auto detect, then try the test sound button under the general tab. I've found that playing with this has restored my sound in the past. I don't know if you've tried kmix open mixer yet and check your volume levels, mute settings and other switches? Regards Dave P
I checked both things, no improvements :( thanks anyway
