Hi Martin,

2008/9/28 Martin Nopola <marnop@xxxxxxxxxx>:
I need help with buying an external HD.
I bought an Iomega eGo external 160 GB USB hard drive but it is not recognized
by my os 11.0 linux only box.
I thought it would work like my USB flash drives.
Searching the web I found nothing about drivers but on Hardware4Linux I found
that all Western Digital cards work on linux.
TigerDirect has a Western Digital Firewire/USB2.0 combo about the same size.

Does anyone have a recommendation on this or any other external HD?

I have an external USB HDD cache from SNT whose model also includes a
fan for the enclosed drive. for home use the unit is great and just
works. On the enterpeose side you could always look into a Drobo as it
is a RAID like array but without the limitations of RAID. I would love
to get one for home but the price tag is a little steep.

HiH
