-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I want to use a LogiCool MK110 Media Keyboard Elite Japanese keyboard with KDE3 & KDE4 on OpenSUSE 10.3. I am switching keyboards using KDE's keyboard tool. The keyboard was not listed in xkb's list. The configuration that worked best was to set it as one of the Logitech internet keyboards and using the OADG 109A variant. It was not perfect and some keys were not mapped correctly, making typing in Japanese kana modes impossible. The other variants do not provide correct key mappings. There was a problem with the henkan key (XFER) being mapped to XF86AudioMedia because of an incorrect key map entry in xkb symbols/inet in the logitech_set3 section. This was adjusted by creating new sections for the MK110 (for both PS/2 and USB versions) and correctly remapping the key. There is a ongoing problem with the alpha key AC13 though, that defies all attempts so far to correct it: The key seems to be correctly mapped to produce む (kana_MU) or a right closing bracket but will produce only a slash or horizontal bar which are mapped to AB12. I also added a redundant map entry in the newly created section for the keyboard but the む (kana_MU) character is still not being produced. Selecting Japanese as the session language changes nothing. The source of the problem is either too obvious or too opaque. Everything appears correct so I am at a loss. I hope someone has some ideas. I use several different keyboards by different vendors depending on circumstances. The keyboard switching apps available so far fail to take such a thing into consideration and keyboard maps are not uniform across makes and models. Most frustrating. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFIzBblhpL3F+HeDrIRAhE3AJ9gKxR2pxBCtOljaomBf181D1jyYACgndfu JEtMnauQ96BzGA6GO/2mlQQ= =XOGN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
