Also, try the "i810" driver. Just replace the "intel" with "i810" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Remember to backup the current file first, just in case.
Hi Manne,
With the "i810" driver, things work fine. I can watch and play video. Weird, or does that make sense to you? Did Sax2 pick the wrong driver for my card?
Thanks for your help,
Joop
I have always used the i810 driver, never the intel. I couldn't really get some clear info on the difference. i810 is apparently old and intel replaces it? See http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/documentation.html This confuses me even more - see question "Question: Does the driver support the Xv extensions?" "Answer To better support the Composite extension, the Intel graphics driver supports --for i915 and later-- textured video which uses the 3D hardware to paint the video directly to the frame buffer instead of using an overlay. This means there's no funny 'blue' image caused by the color key, and it means you can capture video frames with normal X tools." So I guess the answer is no? XV is not supported and the video is directly painted to the (GL) frame buffer? So you should use "-vo gl" when using the intel driver (but now Im out of my league) May someone else with bit more background can help out?
