Dear Listmates,

I have a problem with the embedded video players in KDE 4

In suse 10.3 I was able to change the kde embedded
video player to kmplayer (kde mplayer).

I did this because the kaffeine/xine player
has problems with the .mov files and some .avi files
produced by some digital cameras (for example, canon ixus).

After changing to kmplayer, gwenview and digicam, etc. kde programs
were able to play the videos without any problems.

Now I can't do the same thing in KDE 4. In suse 10.3
and KDE 3.5(?) I first installed kmplayer and then went to
"Configure Desktop/Personal Settings" => "KDE components"
=> "File associations". Then I chose x-msvideo, went into the
"embedding" tab and automagically the line "embedded kmplayer for kde
(mplayer_part)" had appeared into the menu list.

In KDE 4 I go to the same menu, but no options for embedding
have appeared, not even in the menu that appears when pressing
the "add" button. The default embedding option is some "netscape
plugin" thing.. even so, when I start embedded video in digicam,
kaffeine always pops up.

.. is this related to the fact that kaffeine and kmplayer
are KDE 3 programs? Should I dig out some KDE 3 menu in KDE 4
to configure the correct video embedding?

Cheers,

Sampsa
