Hello SuSE people, Running 10.3 X86_64 with KDE 3.5.9 Long - but skip over the error logs for now and go back if you think it wii help to fix this. My old reliable Epson Stylus C86 just stopped working. (parallel) Tried to print a job and nothing happened. Looked at the "K job reviewer" and it showed an error. Then went and looked in the cups error.log and here is what I found. -------------------------------------------------- I [26/Jul/2008:23:04:08 -0400] Adding start banner page "none" to job 129. I [26/Jul/2008:23:04:09 -0400] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more. --------------------------------------------------- So I did an rpm-q gutenprint and got this: gutenprint-5.0.1-1 gutenprint-5.0.2-2lsb3.2 I have no idea where this 5.0.2-2lsb3.2 came from. Upgrade? So then I went to localhost:631 and started looking around. I printed the Printer Test Page and it printed satisfactorily. Info on the printer showed: "Make and Model: Epson Stylus C86 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.1 Simplified" . Still couldn't print regularly. Then added another printer using the 5.0.2 driver and other versions of the 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 drivers. Made the 5.0.2 one default. Again printed the Printer test page OK on this new printer. Still can't print from any app. If you note the 5th line from the bottom of the error log it says I have the 5.0.2 software installed and it does not match the pid. So I deleted the gutenprint-5.0.2 rpm. Tried to print again and nothing but now that error is gone, Then I went into Yast and reinstalled 5.0.1. No good. still won't print.
