OK. My flat panel was recognized, but it is connected to standard VGA output, not DVI.
Right now, the monitor is hooked up via VGA and not DVI (that may change sometime today as i look for a video card or someway to connect 2 monitors)
What tells: hwinfo --monitor
30: None 00.1: 10000 Monitor [Created at monitor.95] Unique ID: jyhG.DAUN4NHKRE4 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "HP w2207" Vendor: HWP "HP" Device: eisa 0x26a8 "HP w2207" Serial ID: "CND7442KLC" Resolution: 720x400@70Hz Resolution: 640x480@60Hz Resolution: 640x480@75Hz Resolution: 800x600@60Hz Resolution: 800x600@75Hz Resolution: 832x624@75Hz Resolution: 1024x768@60Hz Resolution: 1024x768@75Hz Resolution: 1280x1024@75Hz Resolution: 1280x960@60Hz Resolution: 1280x1024@60Hz Resolution: 1680x1050@60Hz Size: 473x296 mm Detailed Timings #0: Resolution: 1680x1050 Horizontal: 1680 1784 1960 2240 (+104 +280 +560) +hsync Vertical: 1050 1053 1059 1089 (+3 +9 +39) -vsync Frequencies: 146.25 MHz, 65.29 kHz, 59.95 Hz Driver Info #0: Max. The system knows about your monitor. Problem is that sax2 (YaST) is reading current xorg.conf with old monitor entries. That is what Fred mentioned, to use custom settings and enter:
Max. Resolution: 1680x1050 Vert. Sync Range: 48-76 Hz Hor. Sync Range: 24-83 kHz Bandwidth: 146 MHz Size: 473x296 mm
Or, to make backup of /etc/X11/xorg.conf and run init 3 sax2 -r from text mode (Ctrl-Alt-F1). Don't forget to save you current work in GUI, as after 'init 3' current work is gone. If you have nvidia or ati than sax2 line should have ' -m 0=nvidia' or ' -m 0=fglrx' added after '-r' parameter. Maybe the easiest way is to edit xorg.conf. Removing most of the lines from Monitor and Modes sections, leaving only Identifier strings should work, but it is easier to do that, than to explain, if you post it :-) If you plan to buy new card today than you can leave all this until you have all connected. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
