Hello listmates,

I’ve got a question about my using my old (okay, VERY old) Philips Vesta webcam
together with Kopete. I am running openSUSE 10.3, with KDE 3.5.9, release 65.1
(latest update this morning). Kopete is version 0.12.7.

The webcam is recognized by the system, and the PWC module is correctly loaded.
I get a picture in Kopete too, but the image is very small, has a blue tint and
my contacts tell me my camera is very slow and freezes on occasion. When I look
at the preview image in Kopete, the image does not freeze, but I see the other
symptoms as well. Playing with the color and whitebalance controls in Kopete
changes nothing, not even if I adjust the sliders completely to the left or
right.

The camera is identified as model: Philips PCVC675K WebCam [pwc] in Yast2
Hardware information.

Does anyone have an idea how I can improve/fix this…or is it time to finally
get a new webcam… ☺

Thanks for any tips/ideas,

Joop
