A new method for moving has been implemented by Aaron to allow you to move any item in the panel, menu and other plasmoids included. First, click on the 'cashew' on the right-hand end of the panel to pop up the panel config panel (you know, the thing with the left and right alignment icons and arrows to change the panel size). Now you will find that when you mouse over any of the plasmoids or icons on the panel the mouse pointer changes into a 4-way arrow and you can click and drag the item whereever you want on the panel. I'm guessing the rmb option may return at a later date, and probably also the ability to drag them off the panel, but it's still a work in progress.
That hasn't landed in the latest update on the openSUSE KDE4 Factory or Unstable repository. The 4-way icon is not shown, and the icons/widgets cannot be moved. Hopefully this shows up in the repo soon.
