It's also worth noting that it's very easy to test. Just make a 'source' directory and a 'dest' directory, put a few appropriate files and subdirectories in them and run your rsync command line against them.
Absolutely. You can also halt it in mid work if you have to, and continue later: the en result will be correct without having to copy everything again.
