Have you tried the mount with the IP address rather than server name? I not certain whether this relevant but you are also not passing a username which means you are attempting to login with the contents of $USER. How do I get the IP Address if I only know the name? The server is freely accesible, so I don't have to use an username? André
Is this home network or corporate? Is gerver a Windows machine (and if so which Windows version) or a Samba box? Are you in charge of it? If the answer to the last question is no, I would suggest using dig (or possibly ping) but if this a workgroup based setup the machine/server name could have absolutely no relationship to the IP based hostname. Simplest thing is to try .... ping gerver and see what you have, or ask whoever is in charge of the machine. If the answer is yes then go to the machine and check the current network settings. - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
