I upgraded to firefox 3 via the build service and generally it's ok. (I had to also upgrade thunderbird to get email links working again). However I notice that it will not navigate to links that konqueror will, for instance: www.rubbermaid.com will get a server not found. Is there some sort of bug in the blacklisted sites going on? wcn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Using Firefox 3.0-1.2 OSS 11.0 and KDE 4.0.4 release 15.1 and I can navigate www.rubbermaid.com just fine.
I can't.
On SuSE Linux 10.3 with Firefox 2 I also am greeted with "Server not found." I _can_ get the Rubbermaid Web site via http://www.rubbermade.com/, which redirects to http://www.rubbermade.com/rubbermaid/index.jhtml.
My assumption about this was that the company that owns the Rubbermaid brand was beaten to the obvious domain name and the price dictated by the squatter thereupon was deemed unreasonable to the Rubbermaid folks. But that's just a supposition.
The whole thing became even stranger when I discovered this:
% host rubbermaid.com rubbermaid.com has address 199.19.47.5 rubbermaid.com mail is handled by 10 cluster6.us.messagelabs.com. rubbermaid.com mail is handled by 20 cluster6a.us.messagelabs.com.
% host rubbermade.com rubbermade.com has address 199.19.47.5
However, 12 repeated attempts at this:
% wget http://www.rubbermaid.com/ --15:35:37-- http://www.rubbermaid.com/ => `index.html' Resolving www.rubbermaid.com... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.
all produced the same result. Using www.rubbermade.com succeeded on the first try.
Something's weird...
Ohfercrissakes... They have a screwed up dns record is all. Try just http://rubbermaid.com There is no law that says http must be served from hostnames that begin with www However, lots of google hits and other links out there DO point to www.rubbermaid.com, so at some point they did have a dns record for "www" and that record has merely been lost and their crack team of IT specialists hasn't noticed yet. So, this has absolutely nothing to do with kde4 or firefox 3 or opensuse 11.0 or linux or domain sqautters. -- Brian K.
