Under normal circumstances I export open documents in pdf format for network distribution and for paper submission. I now have a short-term need to send open documents in doc format, and I am running into troubles with formatting on the receiving system due to fonts. I think I can solve this difficulty by using a standard XP font (like Times Roman 12), minimal formating, and save in doc format. I would like to know what issues are involved in using a true type font from XP on opensuse openoffice. (Is it just as simple as copying the correct font from XP into the right folder?) Which formatting options of openoffice should be avoided when writing a file in doc format? Are the compatibility options (or restrictions) documented someplace?
