[opensuse] 11.0 Sound Problem

I'm having problems setting up sound in 11.0. I think all the options are confusing me. The YaST Sound Configuration module tells me: 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller • Configured as sound card number 0 • Driver snd-hda-intel I set both the Master & PCM volume sliders to 67 but Test produces no sound. The help screen just confused me more. All I'm looking for is a preferably simple setup that will allow most applications to produce basic sound. If you know of such a setup, please point me to it. Any assistance will be appreciated. Don Henson
