I'm amazed that this sort of thing happens. A browser that won't run java applets is almost useless.
On 10.3 x86_64 you can use konqueror for java applets. As a matter of fact, it's the only thing that works.
The fault is Sun's. However, the situation will change for the better. Already openjdk includes a x86_64 java plugin. The fact that it doesn't actually work is "just a phase" :-)
I'm not convinced that is the case. Maybe I have browsed thousands of web pages without noticing the lack but I don't think so. It's a recent thing. I assume firefox's other plugins, all of which work aren't x86_64 in anycase.
nspluginwrapper allows running of 32-bit plugins inside a 64-bit x86-64 Firefox - and that works with acroread and flashplayer. But nspluginwrapper does not work with Java, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
