Hi all, I fiddled around for about two days, to get OpenOffice 2.4 working on NFS shared home directories, and where the users are authenticated against LDAP. The client is opensuse 10.3, i386. The problems were e.g. after pressing the "finish" button on the registration dialogue, then the registration dialogue froze. OOo also froze when I tried to click on a link in a spreadsheet or writer document. Also local users, not authenticated against LDAP, had the same problem. I played around with the variables STAR_PROFILE_LOCKING_DISABLED and SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING, in the soffice script, but that did not helped. After some time of googling I figured out, that it might help to swich NFS to version 4, which I did then for the home directory. Then the problems were gone for the locally authenticated user, with an NFSv4 based home directory, but not for the users authenticated against LDAP. After that, I added a LDAP user to the local "users" group in /etc/group, and voila, the problem was gone for this user too. Anybody has an idea how I can make it work for LDAP based users without the need to add these users to the local users group on every client that the user might be going to use? As this is a bit working against the idea of centrally managed user accounts. Not sure, whether this is a problem that I can fix in OpenOffice configuration, or that I comes from some mechanism in the OS. Any idea is greatly appreciated. kind regards Sebastian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
