with 10.3  it works. however the bug is closed with a link to this

Use http://www.supergrubdisk.org/ if you broke your grub. It's made 
for that
job and we decided not to support this any longer.

I still think it a bad idea to stop this, when there is a problem one 
is often not able to dl anything

anyway, write these reference anywhere and dl the cd asap...
