There is no such thing as disk head wear. Disk heads only touch the
driven when spun down. Or when there's a head crash.
Rather: "... only touch the disk surface when it's spun down."
I don't think this is so with newer hard drives - I believe most now "park"
the heads off to the side. Performance-wise, one would be much better off
with one fat SATA hdd vs. many small disks. Not to mention the power
savings...
