Hi all, I configured a NIC with 2 IP's; 192.168.0.1 as eth0 & 10.0.0.1 eth0:VPN1. eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:xx:xx:xx:DF:A0 inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 ...... eth0:VPN1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:xx:xx:xx:DF:A0 inet addr:10.0.0.1 Bcast:10.0.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:254 Base address:0x4000 Can it be used as a virtual adapter to route a subnet? I tried the following. I added "route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 10.0.0.1 dev eth0:VPN1" the routing table also shows it: Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface 192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 192.168.1.0 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 ... default 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 As gateway it appears, but does not seem to route the requests to the 192.168.1.0 network when I do a traceroute 192.168.1.22; the adapter with IP 192.168.0.1 seems to answer in stead of the virtual address 192.168.1.1 as I expected. traceroute 192.168.1.22 traceroute to 192.168.1.22 (192.168.1.22), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 * * * ... 11 * * * 12 * * L103-FW1-AWS (192.168.0.1)(H!) 1476.104 ms What am I missing? :-) Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
