to start something graphically, I use ssh -X and start it from the command
line. It's also not very fast though

I have set up a couple of 10.3 systems with Remote Administration enabled,
and I believe all necessary ports are open through the Firewall. VNC is
also enabled.
These are behind a router, DynDNS redirects the Public IP Address.
