When I looked at this link
http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html I did not find
the 8600 GT listed there.
That page only lists 'legacy' cards, not those that are supported by the
current driver, AFAICT. So *not* finding your card is *good* :)
