What nVidia driver version did you install? Did you change (or allow the installer to change) the video driver named in your xorg.conf? Quick way to check... go to /etc/X11 and then type: less xorg.conf Look for the section near the end of the file where the video driver is defined. Does it say "nv" or "nvidia"?

Sorry to say but I don't have the version number with me. I can tell you that it did modify the xorg.conf as it asked me if I wanted to make backup which I let it do. I will check the file tonight and let you know.
