Hello list users:
In earlier suse versions I easily could check (and necessarily)
set my optical drive's (cd drive, dvd drive) DMA status using
hdparm -d /dev/hdx
command, where hdx is the optical drive device.
However in openSUSE 10.3 this command gives this result:
/sbin/hdparm -d /dev/sr0
/dev/sr0:
HDIO_GET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
I googled and found that this occurs because of the libata drive
is used for IDE drives.
How can I then check and set the DMA settings of my drives
manually?
Another question:
With hdparm I also could set the reading speed of my cdrom
drive. Is this still possible or not?
TIA,
IG
