Hello, in order to get sound to work (at least to work consistently) I need to add the user to the 'audio' user group. The problem I am having is that to make this work in a lab environment I need to add 100's of users the audio group which seems a tortured way to make audio work. Is there a better way? One solution might be to change the permissions on the audio devices: find /dev -group audio -exec chmod 666 {} \; -print or something similar, but I am not 100% sure this will solve all audio issues. Also, the device permissions are reset on reboot (though I figure if I find the right configuration file I can fix this).
