hi there,
i just installed 10.3 to an old athlon 1200. the problem is, that after shutting down suse, the computer does not turn off.
The last line on the screen is: Master Resource Control: Runlevel 0 has been reached
and then freezes.
it sounds like the harddisk is powered off, but the motherboard is still active and has to be switches off manually via powerbutton.
i already looked for options in bios but could not find any. any ideas?

This is a known PITA bug that for some reason has appeared in 10.3. See: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331747 They are up to Comment #120 or so. I have 3 machines this problem affects 5-8 others that have no problem. Go figure...
I have a older machine with 10.3 with this problem. I found a work around by modifying /boot/grub/menu.lst to add apm=off and acpi=force. This assumes you are using Grub. My BIOS does not support acpi and shows up on boot as older than 2001(year). I have several comments as part of the 120. -- Russ Linux register user 441463 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
