Hmm... It used to work for me, but I see now that it doesn't. The only
option that still does is "two shifts together change layout" -- which
just happens to be my preferred method of switching... You can try if
it would work for you (check "clear old xkb options" to make sure that
the old setting does not interfere). I don't know how to make it with
either ctrl or alt, though, sorry. Looks like something else in KDE is
re-mapping those, but I cannot find out what at the moment.
