[opensuse] Clicking on links

When I click on an external link in a kmail or knews message, the link gets
copied to a temporary file in /var/temp/something-or-other, which is then
opened in the browser. This happens with both Konqueror and Firefox as
default browser. What I would like (and expect) is for the browser to go
directly to the external link.
I'm using squid as a local proxy. Could it be something to do with squid, or
is it a KDE setting?
