I finally got some speakers that sound OK, and I found a site on the web that
plays music that I don't care for, but it proves that they work. Now, how do I play a CD? I have two CD drives, one a recorder, one just a player. I don't know how to mount them--if that's required--and I don't know how to make the sound come out. And I don't know what they're called, either. I know all this was discussed 5 years ago, but I've forgotten the answers.

Also, it would be nice to have a control that makes one left/right speaker
louder than the other, for better balance, but that does not seem to exist
on the mixer panel.
In that case, you want to use XMMS.
