What might be causing this behavior, and what can I do about it?
One option is what I do.
Remove it from taskbar and use 'zypper update' to update.
Do something else while it collects information, it will stop with question to
proceed with update or not. Next time you look in console you have to check
what packages are listed and say yes or no.
