FYI, I had a terrible nightmare with an HP laptop I bought and
returned recently HP. Don't get me wrong it was a good price and with
the exception of the battery that was sticking out 12-cell
(standard!!) it was a really nice machine. Some of its components
nVidia NIC and broadcom wireless, plus the CD burner were not
recognized so I returned. Otherwise the processor was AMD X2 1.9Hz
TL-58 and it was fast :). I eventually got a Sony vgn-FZ240 which has
Intel components and despite a problem I am still having with wireless
(4965agn) everything else works. Good luck with your search!.
Regards,
George

I'm going to have to replace my old (6+ years) Toshiba that has a amd 450Mhz processor and a whopping 20GB disk.
I'm looking for recommendations for a mid range ($1k - 1.5k) laptop that is compatible with Opensuse 10.3.
Anything HP. I'd prefer a HP Business Notebook, for example the HP nx7400 (RU430ET), I got one of those and had not a single hardware or compability problem til today (using it heavily for nearly a year now).
Please, no flamefests!!
