However, all USB ports are built into the MB and every USB device works correctly except this camera. The USB system sees it but something between there and "mount" is missing it. I think that is because there is no sdd1 device - so back to udev
Precisely, you plug the usb card-reader into a "usb" port and the camera memory card into the card-reader.
