<snip>

How do I format a CD RW to be a udf disk so I can drag and drop to it instead
of a floppy drive. Could not find answer on k3b website. Only option in
program is erase CD. No format option. Burn allows me to do it but I was
under
the impression I could set the CDRW to act like a floppy. The one method I
found searching through google did not work.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

This requires that packet writing be enabled and results can vary with
drive and media.

However, the short answer is it is not a good idea to directly write to
optical media this way. Though manufacturers quote values that you get
away with 1000s of writes on a CD/RW, the practical answer seems to be
more in the 100s of writes. The CD will probably fail quite quickly.

An alternative that might be useful is to set up a virtual mount to an
image and only burn the image when you finished with it. At the moment I
know of no tool (with the possible exception of K3b) can set up and
manage such a configuration.

I have no experience of using this kind of mount, others may be able to
help with this aspect. I have a feeling a daemon to setup and manage
this kind of virtually mounted CD/DVD image might be rather useful if it
does not exist already.
