I run vmware workstation 5.5.5-56455 as well on a SuSE 10.3 host. I had toas far as I understood, the problem here is not that vmware runs on 10.3
apply a patch (I'd have to look where I found it but it's named something
like vmware-any-any-patch and it doe work.
