When I run rpm2cpio (packagename) I get a very scrambled output, and
when it returns to the prompt, the prompt is scrambled too, as well as
anything I type. Only way out of this is to close the terminal and
restart.

Another symptom, rpm2cpio --help works before I actually run an rpm2cpio
process. But after I run the process, if I attempt rpm2cpio --help, it
hangs. Even after having closed the terminal and restarting it.

I'm not seeing rpm2cpio in ps aux or top, so not sure where to clear out
rpm2cpio, other than by a reboot.

Anyone else have this problem in 10.3?

It seems that you sent output to console instead to file:
rpm2cpio file.rpm > file.cpio
should work.

Well don't I feel foolish. It had been a while since I used
rpm2cpio. :-)
