How do I stop it checking for updates everytime 250 users log in? System wide?
it's a real pain.
Try deinstalling opensuse-updater-kde and opensuse-updater-gnome.
There should be a list of users authorized to run those two programs. One way would be to package them not world executable. Otherwise, we could do that in /etc/permissions.local. For 10.2 that would be: /opt/kde3/bin/opensuseupdater root.root 0650 or other suitable group. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
