Have you tried the newest ATI/AMD Driver released yesterday?

Nope,
But thanks for the heads up! I'm off to try it now and I will report back. I have my fingers crossed!
Ben,
What new driver are are you referring to and where can I get it? The drivers I have are:
[root rankin-p35a/home/david] # rpm -qa | grep fglrx ati-fglrxG01-kmp-default-8.41.7_2.6.22.5_30-1.1 x11-video-fglrxG01-8.41.7-5.1
and I can't find any newer at http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html or www2.ati.com/suse/10.3
Disregard, I found the "oh my god" driver at:

Yes, to each their own. AMD Considers it to be the "Oh My God" driver, but I consider it to be the "About F'ing Time" driver. :o). Please report back on the installation / configuration of Compiz Fusion etc..
