[openSUSE 10.2 (X86-64), Linux 2.6.18.2-34-default, XFX GeForce
6600LE, Intel Pentium D CPU 3.20GHz, KDE 3.5.7 "release 80.1"]

Was running a fully functional, though occasionally fractious, Beryl
until two weeks ago - then after an update using Yast, and a bit of
tweaking, all graphics was lost.  Cleaned out the system and tried to
install Compiz as an alternative ...

I've followed all the leads on this mailinglist but still having no
success getting Compiz active.  Some details:

I have the following NVIDIA drivers installed:

* nvidia-gfxG01-kmp-default-100.14.19 (x86_64)
* x11-video-nvidiaG01-100.14.19 (x86_64)

I have tried with installing these Nvidia drivers both by Yast and via
the "hard way", but: My Computer: Display Info, shows: "Driver: nvidia",
and then occasionally shows a "3D" entry ...

Whilst SaX2:X11 Configuration shows "Activate 3D Acceleration" as being
selected.

I believe that all the relevant Compiz, xgl, KDE, Gnome (for bug-buddy,
gnome-xgl-switch, ...) components are installed.

Using CompizConfig Settings Manager (0.5.2) I have selected all the
preferred eye-candy but still cannot activate any of the graphical
effects or features.

For example: running gnome-xgl-settings as root, crashes with:

"

** (bug-buddy:22873): WARNING **: Couldn't load icon for Open Folder
"

Similarly, running "NVIDIA X Server Settings" mostly(!?) opens with:

"
You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver.
"

Any hints would help ...
