Well, fine, but I'm in the same industry, and I've always 
heard "golden."

Google produces 77,400 hits for the (quoted) search "golden master", 
including <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_master> and 140,000 
for "gold master" (appearing in passing in 
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_recording> at Wikipedia).
