If you found no BIOS update, there is another option but... it's a bit 
tricky. Also, you will have to use syslinux, in order to boot your system.
Many older BIOS that do not support USB HDD boot, do support USB Zip 
support... syslinux has instructions how to format your USB pen, in 
order to simulate a USB Zip drive. If you follow that procedure, and 
your BIOS supports USB Zip, it is possible to boot that way.
I know, because I already did it.
