Sounds like grub is not installed properly. I only run Linux on my
machine here, and I prefer to install it to the master boot record. I
would install grub via the grub command prompt, i.e root (hdx,x), where
x,x is the drive and partition number starting at 0, and then setup
(hdx), where x = disk number starting from 0. Then quit to exit grub. HTH.
