Hello,
My google-fu seems to be weak today 'cause I can't find a good answer to this problem.
I have a server program. [<program> start] starts the server, [<program> stop] stops it. I want to make it run as a daemon on an openSUSE 10.2 installation, so it will start / exit cleanly.
Bonus: - running it as a different user - listing it in YaST / system services.
Thanks for any hints, Sorin
Write an init script for it. There is a file /etc/init.d/skeleton which you can use as a starting point. Just copy that to whatever name you want, and edit it. Services are normally started with startproc, which takes a parameter "-u user" to let you run as a different user And once you've written the script and made it executable, it will automatically show up in YaST's services module Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
