I hope this is enough on topic. I just bought a Compaq notebook computer that has Vista. I would like to repartition it so that I can have a separate partition for data and so that I can later install SuSE. I attempted to repartition with Partition Magic 8 and found it could not properly identify the partition so it would not let me resize. I also could not get Ghost to backup the drive.
I had to use the resize that came with vista. Then I was able to install OpenSUSE 10.2 and dual boot.
The next question I have is about backup (disaster recovery). What tools work with Vista and ext3 for SuSE? In the past I used Ghost (mostly for the Windows side) but when I try to use it with Vista, it just hangs as soon as the image creation begins. I looked at the current Partition Magic and found that it seems Norton has sucked up a good program and killed it. They still sell it but it is the same old version from a few years ago and does not support Vista.
I use backup edge http://www.microlite.com/
